At the International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands (ISTCI), our Primary School follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). This framework offers a balanced approach that integrates academic progress, personal growth, and international perspectives. What Is the IPC?
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is an internationally recognised framework that brings learning to life through connected themes across subjects. It is structured around three areas of learning: Knowledge, Skills, and Understanding. At ISTCI, students study Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Art, Health and Wellbeing, Geography, History, Technology, Music, and Physical Education within these themes.
The IPC Learning Process
At ISTCI, every IPC unit follows the Process to Facilitate Learning, which keeps the learner at the centre and makes each experience engaging, reflective, and purposeful. The process unfolds through five stages:

IPC Learning Outcomes
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) defines progress through three key areas of learning:
- Knowledge: Building a solid foundation of subject facts and information.
- Skills: Developing practical abilities that can be applied, practised, and improved over time.
- Understanding: Deepening awareness of concepts by making connections across subjects and experiences.
Alongside these areas, the IPC includes International Learning Goals that encourage students to appreciate different perspectives, develop intercultural awareness, and take responsibility as global citizens.
At ISTCI, student progress is measured at ages 7, 9, and 11, ensuring every learner is supported and challenged as they move forward in their education.

Students also participate in field trips throughout the year, strengthening their knowledge, skills, and understanding in practical, everyday situations.
